Early Intervention Groups

 

What is Early Intervention Group?

Our Early Intervention Groups are 2.5 hour therapeutic developmental play sessions for children from 18 months to 3 years of age. They are run by a Special Educator,  with other professionals such as a Speech Pathologist, Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist participating as necessary.

When is Early Intervention Group?

Early Intervention Group runs Monday-Friday from 8:00AM to 10:30AM. Children attend 2, 3, or 5 days per week depending on needs stated on the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).


Who benefits from a Early Intervention Group?

Children who have needs primarily in the development of play skills, language development, sensory motor development, and social interactions. Children who do not have access to other children also benefit from the groups as research supports the fact that children learn by modeling other children.


What is the class size of a Early Intervention Group?

Generally, our Early Intervention Group consists of 5 children with a Special Education Teacher, along with Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists as scheduled.


What happens after Early Intervention Group?

The Early Intervention Group is a great introduction to the preschool setting where classes are larger and consist of 3 & 4 year olds. Children can attend a preschool classroom, while continuing to receive related services, in an integrated Classroom, or a self-contained classroom.
